: 2 William and Margaret Rice immigrated to Canada from the British Isles in 1902. They decided to start a family in Montreal. In 1909, they settled in the Inland Northwest with their five sons when William got a job as a machinist for the Great Northern Railway in Hillyard, Washington. Tragedy struck when William was crushed to death by a train car in 1910. Margaret paid tribute to her late husband with this beautiful heart-shaped headstone at Fairmount Cemetery in Spokane.
